Course Description:
With a new academic semester upon us, I would like to welcome back your son/daughter to my MLC class for the 2023-2024 academic school year. It will be an exciting and challenging year for all of us. This course is designed to engage students in grade appropriate problem solving through interactive and cooperative learning. The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) are carefully implemented into each lesson. Students are expected to engage in independent, self-selected Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies problems as well as teacher-assigned questions, as well as social skills instructions. Students will be taught to carefully analyze questions and implement their educational skills for a deeper learning of the content. Whenever applicable, students will make real-world connections with the content. The goal of this class is to encourage students to utilize social skills in their daily lives to create problem solving individuals.

Grades:
Grades will be given at the end of the six weeks according to school policy. Progress reports will be issued during the third week of the six weeks. Students will be graded in different ways: daily grades and tests. Percentages are as follow:
Daily Grades (Class work): 50%
Tests: 50%
Class Assignments/Homework:
It is the student’s responsibility to ask for, to complete and to turn in work for excused absences. All students are required to participate with choral reading, writing assignments, reading assignments, and group projects.
